OUR MEMORY CARE PROGRAM AT AVALON HILLSBOROUGH IS GROWING GREATLY!
When our Memory Care expansion is complete at our Avalon at Hillsborough community, we will have doubled our capacity and added significant common space, including an outdoor terrace. An entire floor will be devoted to our Generations Village and will help us strive to meet the ever-growing demand for memory care services as our population continues to age.
According to the Alzheimer’s Association: “Millions of Americans are living with Alzheimer’s or other dementias. As the size of the U.S. population age 65 and older continues to grow, so too will the number and proportion of Americans with Alzheimer’s or other dementias. An estimated 6.5 million Americans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s dementia in 2022. By 2050, the number of people age 65 and older with Alzheimer’s dementia is projected to reach 12.7 million.”
As we anticipate the growing need for memory care services in Central New Jersey, we’re pleased to announced these new features that will enhance our community:

Memory Care or Traditional Assisted Living — Which is Right for You or Your Loved One?
Memory Care and Assisted Living share many of the same features, including residential / community living, assistance with activities of daily living, personal care, activities programming, medication management, and community dining.
Although assisted living residents may receive some help with daily activities, they can live independently in an apartment or studio accommodation. A robust schedule with a broad range of activities is designed to engage residents. You can learn more about Assisted Living at Bridgeway Senior Healthcare here and view a sample of an Assisted Living activities calendar here.
Memory care is a dedicated, long-term care residential community designed to provide enhanced safety measures in a structured environment to enhance the quality of life for people with memory impairment, such as Alzheimer’s or dementia. Every aspect of the community from activities to the facility layout to safety features is intentionally designed to benefit those with cognitive conditions. A similar level of personal care assistance and community dining, as one would find in traditional assisted living, is a part of the memory care lifestyle. While accommodations do not include a kitchen for safety reasons, memory care communities feature natural light, calming colors and inviting community spaces.
Activities are designed to engage residents without contributing to anxiety, a common symptom of dementia. A routine schedule of activities focusing on memory care, such as exercise, arts and crafts, brain fitness (puzzles and games), and music therapy, contribute to a sense of comfort and security.
At Bridgeway Senior Healthcare, our Assisted Living and Memory Care communities are distinguished from others by a family of coordinated healthcare services that is always available to our residents. The depth and breadth of our Continuum of Care is here to help you seamlessly navigate changing healthcare needs. The transition from assisted living to memory care can be a smoother process because we do offer both kinds of communities.
Once a resident in any of our communities, you will have priority access to our family of services: Rehabilitation, Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing, Memory Care, Respite Care, and Home Therapy. Our experienced staff will do all the legwork for you and personally help you transition to the best place for you within our caring and comprehensive system of services.

Because we recognize the unique challenges and individuality of each resident, we provide personalized programming and services to meet each resident’s needs. Our staff, specially trained in Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, strives to meet the needs of each resident by providing compassionate, attentive care and holistic, personalized programming and services every day.
Our memory care programs create an atmosphere that promote dignity and self-respect, and are aimed at enriching each resident’s quality of life. Every resident has a private suite that can be decorated to feel like home. We encourage families to bring in favorite items, such a quilt or blanket, pillow, and photos that will make the resident feel comfortable and at home.
Our philosophy fuels us with the passion to meet the spiritual, psychosocial and emotional needs of every resident, their families and friends by recognizing that all are impacted by dementia, or other memory-related diagnosis.
